Importance of a Good Investigation of the Air Quality

Whether the building is of recent construction or not, the risks of pollution by molds is the same. Even if it is impossible to eliminate all the risks, we can reduce them to the minimum all the same.

Very often, the least visible places are the source of unsuspected water damage. In the basement, foundations, sub- floor, ceilings, walls, rubber pipes from washing machines, a pipe that leaks, a tile on the roof that has lost its sealing, a sudden flood, a fire too quickly repaired, etc.

Mold Inspection and Testing

And these are only some examples of possible mold sources.

It takes only a short period of 24 to 48 hours of water or high humidity for the basic elements of the mold to grow and start forming colonies. There are three elements:

  1. Water or high humidity
  2. Food such as dust, wood, paper, paperboard of the gypsum, carpets, insulation, etc.
  3. Time
The visible mold can be easily cleaned up using simple domestic products, but not with bleach. The S.C.H.L. recommends, indeed, to reject this method because of the toxic effects that bleach with 4%-5% chlorox & up to 95% water has. And as it is, this very water is the source that feeds the mold.
